Brendan Smith back in lineup

We will see shortly if Smith got the message from A.V. for his extended 6 game scratch from the lineup, which I believe was the most consecutive games he had been scratched in his pro career.

The most rest Hank has received this season is not starting a game for 7 straight days from Oct. 24th to 30th, with Pavelec making two back to back starts of his three total in that time frame. Hank's play then improved in starting the next 7 games beginning on Oct. 31st, coinciding with the Rangers 6 game winning streak, prior to his 7th straight start in Wednesday night's loss at Chicago.
Their postseason hopes have always hinged in the past on how far Hank can take them. But wearing him down in not being able to give him their planned 20 to 25 games of rest, due to falling behind quickly out of the gate at 2-6-2, will be of no benefit come postseason time if they qualify. It required Raanta's 16-8-2 record last season for them to earn the 1st Wild Card spot, and have Hank outplay Price to win Round One, before their Round Two devastating loss to Ottawa in 6 games, instead of winning it in 5 games.
If A.V. and staff have little confidence in Pavelec, Gorton must then acquire another backup ASAP. Maybe he can even contact Arizona as to bringing Raanta back, even if it would require a third team being involved who has a top, near NHL ready goalie prospect they can afford to deal to them. A Hall of Fame goalie playing in his prime years will not be able to turn the Coyotes around immediately into a serious contender of any kind.

You did the same with Clendening, this is simple ,why dont you get it...
the high pt of Stumps game has come ,his upside is to fill in & he has ..
The upside to Smiths or Mac staying in the lineup is maybe they can find there high pt of game ..they havnet yet ....
compare high pts its why Stump is a 6/7 & the other guys are potential 1-2 's.... you never competed did you..
the lack of talent is the final decision maker Stumpner is not as talented
Yes he is a hustler but i said after the streak get smith back from his rebuild ..
1st physically ,now mentally on ice ..no more T O's get your game back...

schedule dictates as well as desperation...
Like Smith Pavlec needs work but he also need to play solid top goal ..'rebounds shoot everywhere with him, I M O will be exposed to play when
shcedule tightens and his influence is better....

I don’t care how much talent you have because if the smarts on the ice or effort is lacking, that talent won’t be on display enough to stay on the lineup. History is littered with talented players who didn’t remain because of the lack of smarts on the ice or failure to display the proper effort. I am not saying Kampfer is more talented than either Smith or McD or anyone else. But if you continue to play poorly, at some time, you have to be accountable and accountability only works if it’s applied to all not just a select few.

i guess your from the ..." every kid is a great player " era just because he plays !
level of comp is a buoy of sorts as to where you will gravitate in the future of competition in sports ..it starts early ,better talent gets groomed ,marginal or late bloomers may miss ... its a force in nature
remember : ONLY the strong survive....The meak will inherit the earth ...when its all beat up &done with , after its destroyed ! who cares then...
THats competition ...

Talent is all encompassing ,must have the Physical,Mental & spirit to do ...
'
Obviously they all do : the top guys may not be using it all NOW ..
But when they do its a no brainer for Stump to watch ..
ISsue is how to get the top guys there game with out sacrificing the team....

Nash has a Modified No Trade Clause, with a 12 teams list he would be willing to accept a trade to. Of those 12 teams, it is believed that none of them are teams playing in Canada.
In addition, if Montreal were to decide to become sellers, why would they want Nash even if he would have been willing to re-sign there, instead of keeping Pacioretty? Galcheynuk is another issue with his substance abuse troubles, in being treatment programs up in Canada on multi occasions. Even though he is a center, why would the Rangers want a player with that type of off ice history playing in the city of New York?

based on his rep he'll get a significant amount a games.

he definitely wasnt looking to crack him in the head (unlike big buff against jt a few years ago). seems he was trying for the back of his legs and didnt realize the guy fell over.

A 20 games suspension would not make us miss any games against him, since we don't face the Flyers until Jan. 16th at MSG. I think a 30 games one will take away our worry from not seeing that goon on the ice for at least the first of the 4 Flyer match ups this season.

I’m pretty sure the department of player safety always considers when the Rangers play a team when handing down suspensions.

I wasn't considering that department at all with my comment, but instead, only the safety of the Ranger players from a repeated offending goon of that magnitude.

The Rangers earned 56 of their 102 overall points last season on the road in going 27-12-2, which in effect, earned them the 1st Wild Card spot. Should they end up with the same 21-16-4 home record as well, (in being thus far through 13 home games, 7-4-2, equal to a 41 games home pace of 22-13-6), they would need to go 25-8-2 in their 35 remaining road games starting tonight at Columbus, to match that great road record of a season ago. They better take advantage of playing these next 5 of 7 games at MSG to lower that road burden requirement somewhat, because had they played to a lower, but still respectable 23-17-1 record on the road last season, they would have missed qualifying for the postseason by 1 point, in ending with 93 points instead.
